Last week we spent 2 days visiting over 300 children at Forest View School in Cinderford! On Thursday, the day started with a KS2 assembly and on Friday an assembly for KS1. The assembly taught the children all about plastic pollution and why it is bad, to help them understand the importance of our work and inspire them to do their part!

We then spent time with each class who took part in our decomposition timeline activity. The children worked in groups to sort through buckets of everyday household items like toothbrushes, newspaper and drink cans. The children decided how long they think each item takes to decompose and place it along the timeline. It was very interesting to see how each class interpreted the activity differently and where along the timeline they placed each item.

After this, we took the students outside to litterpick around the school. Some of the classes tackled the playground, whilst others took on the field and another battled the car park. We were so impressed by the determination of all the students, which even saw one class brave the rain!

There were a number of interesting finds by the children, including a cake tin which has now been repurposed in the Forest School! Two students born in 2018, found a very old crisp packet which expired in 2017, making it older than them!

We were impressed to see the school has its own eco council who have a number of tasks which includes litter picking. Across our two day visit, the students managed to collect 12.3 kilograms of litter!

Thank you to the staff at Forest View School for being so welcoming and an even bigger thank you to the students who were just fantastic. The great questions and enthusiasm towards each task really showed and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit!
