We returned to Westward Ho!, North Devon, on June 10th 2025 for our 4th annual clean! Joined by 48 volunteers from Torrington Girl Guides and the ProCook store in Bideford. We had kids as young as three and plenty of experienced adult helpers, all working together across the sand, seaweed and rocks.

In just two hours, we filled bags with 34.05 kg of litter! An impressive haul nearly double some past years. We uncovered everything from single-use plastics to fishing debris, glass, and metal. Each item removed a small win for wildlife, our community, and the planet. Across all four cleans at this stretch, we’ve now collected over 110.6kg, showing that consistent action truly makes a difference.
We found some unusual items this clean such as:
- Part of a dustbin
- A melted clump of plastic containing a shoe and first aid kit
- Socks
- Shoes
- Lots and lots of fishing line and netting

A heartfelt thank‑you to all 48 volunteers, especially our friends at Torrington Rainbows, Brownies, Guides, and Explorers, and the ProCook team. Westward Ho! proved once again that change is built year by year, together.

Westward Ho! shed 34.05 kg of waste in two hours, thanks to 48 volunteers. Let’s aim even higher, and cleaner, next year!
