Hey guys!
It’s Caitlin here – I am the new Charity Administrator at Life’s a Beach (yay!). I am so excited to be joining such a passionate organisation and to have this awesome opportunity to make a difference to our environment.
I thought I would kick things off by sharing my top current big-brand eco initiatives. Rumour has it that the wealthiest 1% are responsible for more greenhouse gas emissions than the bottom two thirds of our global population, meaning to stand a chance at battling climate change it’s going to take more than just me and you recycling at home.
That’s why I think it is so important that any profit-making business accept their corporate responsibility and do their bit for the environment – speaking of which, your company should definitely book a beach clean with us 😉

So, lets get into it! Here are my personal top 3 current, big-brand eco initiatives that I use regularly!
- 5 for £5 Recycling Scheme @ Boots
As somebody who struggles with sensitive skin, I know that sometimes the plastic free, sustainable soaps and products don’t always do the job you need. However, that doesn’t mean I want to be throwing bottle after bottle into landfill every week. Boots have recently introduced a fantastic scheme where you can take 5 empty non-recyclable beauty items in store, to be specially recycled. In return, they will reward you with £5 worth of beautycard points when you spend £10, basically making your replacement potion of choice half price, right!? #girlmath

2. Bring a cup and double up @ Coffee No.1
Coffee No.1 is my favourite place for good coffee and cake! Not only do they craft an excellent Vanilla Latte, but they also offer dog friendly, cosy spaces with free Wi-Fi, making it the perfect spot to gossip with friends, or catch up on work. Coffee No.1’s loyalty card scheme, offers customers their 10th coffee free. However, take your own reusable coffee cup and get 2 stamps on your card, making that free drink only 5 purchases away as a reward for saving 5 cups from going to waste! They also give out free coffee grounds for anyone with a particularly green thumb and likes to garden!

3. ProCooks plastic free* packaging
ProCook sell high quality, durable kitchenware which is designed to last. Not only is the brand committed to promoting sustainability, using the motto ‘buy better, buy once’, but ProCook has achieved B Corp status demonstrating their dedication to environmental accountability. They have developed 95% of their packaging to be easily recycled at home, with all unnecessary plastic being removed including shiny coatings on cardboard packaging which is non-recyclable. That’s why when I need new pots and pans, I’ll be heading over to procook.co.uk. Not only this, but they have a great range of reusable water bottles and lunchboxes (of which proceeds support our work here at Life’s a Beach)!

If you made it this far, thank you for reading! I am so excited for this journey working at Life’s a Beach, this is just the start…. If there are any eco initiatives I missed which you love, let me know in the comments!
Caitlin 🙂
