Life’s a Beach recently teamed up with volunteers from Amazon Bristol for a fantastic community clean-up around Govier Way and the surrounding industrial estate. Together, the team dedicated their time to helping improve the local environment and make the area cleaner and safer for everybody who uses it.

We were joined by 22 enthusiastic volunteers, all ready to get stuck in with gloves, litter pickers, hi-vis, buckets and bin bags in hand. Splitting into groups, the volunteers headed out across the area tackling litter that had built up along roadsides, fences, bushes and footpaths. The team were extremely passionate about making a positive impact in their local community.

Over the course of four hours, the volunteers worked tirelessly collecting an incredible 139.16 kilograms of litter and filling an impressive 45 bags of waste. The amount removed shows just how important community action is in preventing litter from building up in our towns and industrial areas.

Alongside the usual items such as cigarette butts, plastic bottles, cans and crisp packets, the group uncovered some particularly unusual finds during the clean, including:
- The front of a car
- An empty rucksack
- A shredded traffic cone
- A mobile phone!

It’s always surprising to see the strange items discovered on our cleans, and these unusual finds certainly kept volunteers entertained throughout the day!

Events like this demonstrate the power of businesses giving back to their communities. By volunteering their time, the Amazon Bristol team made a visible difference to the local area, helping protect wildlife, improve shared spaces and stop litter from entering waterways and the wider environment.

A huge thank you to everybody from Amazon Bristol who took part and gave their energy to the clean-up. Your hard work, enthusiasm and teamwork made the event a huge success, and we’re incredibly grateful for your support!
