Last week, Life’s a Beach had the pleasure of hosting a fantastic beach clean at Lee-on-the-Solent alongside volunteers from Nutanix, in partnership with Vohkus.
A brilliant team of 23 volunteers joined us on the shoreline, giving up their time to help protect our coastlines and tackle the growing issue of marine litter. Armed with litter pickers, gloves, and plenty of enthusiasm, the group worked together to remove an incredible 26.7kg of litter from the beach, filling 6 bags in the process!
As always, some unusual finds made an appearance during the clean! Among the more interesting items collected were a toy dragon, a purple tennis ball and a lifejacket, proving once again that you never quite know what you’ll discover during a beach clean.
While these unusual items can raise a smile, every piece of litter removed helps to protect wildlife, prevent plastic pollution entering our oceans, and keep our beaches safe and enjoyable for everyone.
Corporate volunteering events like this play such an important role in creating cleaner communities and encouraging positive environmental action. It was fantastic to see the Nutanix and Vohkus teams getting stuck in, learning more about plastic pollution, and making a real difference in just a few hours.
