Great Oldbury Goes Green!

We had a wonderful visit to Great Oldbury School, where the children took part in a day of eco-themed activities.

The morning began with a whole-school assembly all about the journey of our rubbish and why it’s so important to reduce, reuse and recycle. The pupils were full of fantastic ideas and eager to share their knowledge. We were so happy to see the Eco Club have been learning all about protecting our planet, and some of the children took the time to make their very own posters!

Classes then explored a fun decomposition activity, discovering how long different items take to break down in the environment. There were lots of shocked reactions when they learned just how long some everyday litter can last!

To finish the day, the children headed outside for a class litter pick around the school grounds. Equipped with gloves and litter pickers, they worked brilliantly together to help keep their school environment clean and tidy. Across the day 196 children collected 4.1 kilograms of litter, making a real difference to their environment!

A huge thank you to everyone at Great Oldbury School for making us feel so welcome. It was fantastic to see so much enthusiasm for protecting our planet and we hope you are feeling inspired after our visit!
