Last week, we had the pleasure of teaming up with the Longford Guides for a fantastic community litter pick around their local area.

The group got stuck in with litter pickers and bags in hand, working together to help make a positive difference to their community and the environment. It was brilliant to see so much enthusiasm from the Guides as they collected litter from streets, pathways, and green spaces around Longford.

By the end of the session, the 15 volunteers had collected an impressive 28.4 kilograms of litter, removing harmful waste before it had the chance to enter drains, rivers, and eventually our oceans. From plastic packaging and drinks cans to wrappers and cigarette butts, every item collected helped make the local area cleaner and safer for both people and wildlife.

At Life’s a Beach, we’re passionate about educating young people on the importance of protecting the environment and showing that litter pollution is not just a problem for beaches. Much of the litter found inland eventually travels through waterways and out to sea, which is why community litter picks like this are so important.

We would like to say a huge thank you to the Longford Guides for their hard work, positivity, and dedication throughout the clean. It was fantastic to see everyone working together and taking pride in their local community.

Events like this are a great reminder that small actions can make a big difference. Every piece of litter picked up helps protect wildlife, reduce pollution, and create cleaner spaces for everyone to enjoy.

Thank you again to all of the Guides and leaders who took part – you should all be incredibly proud of the difference you made!
