For the third year in a row, Life’s a Beach teamed up with volunteers from the Benefact Group for another fantastic litter pick as part of their ‘Big Give Back’ campaign, supporting charities and communities across the UK!

This year, the team swapped Gloucester Business Park for the Gloucester & Sharpness Canal, taking on the rain and miserable weather conditions with incredible enthusiasm and determination. Despite the gloomy skies, the volunteers persevered and spent two hours clearing litter from the canal paths and surrounding areas.

In total, 26 dedicated volunteers collected 14.9 kilograms of rubbish along the canal route. From plastic bottles and cans to food wrappers and other discarded waste, the team tackled plenty of litter hotspots throughout the morning.

A huge thank you to the Benefact Group for partnering with us once again. It was amazing to see volunteers getting stuck in despite the weather! We’re already looking forward to next year’s clean!

It’s impressive that the Benefact Group volunteers still managed to collect nearly 15 kilos of litter despite the rain and tough conditions along the Gloucester & Sharpness Canal. Community clean-ups like this not only improve local spaces immediately, but they also help raise awareness about how much everyday waste ends up in waterways. Hopefully initiatives like the Big Give Back inspire more businesses to get involved locally.
