Benefact Big Give Back!

For the second year in a row, Life’s a Beach teamed up with volunteers from the Benefact Group to litter pick Gloucester Business Park and the surrounding areas! We are so pleased to be part of their ‘Big Give Back’ campaign, aimed at supporting charity and community!

Across 2 wonderfully sunny hours, 27 volunteers cleared up a massive 62.9 kilograms of rubbish around their Gloucester office.

The volunteers found lots of the usual culprits such as plastic bottles, cans and wrappers, but there were also a couple more unique and interesting finds! These included a road closure sign which was buried underneath a bush (and clearly had been for a while), a number of gas cannisters and a deflated rugby ball.

The find of the day was an extremely faded can of Coca Cola, which after a lot of internet scouring, we believe was from 1995! This goes to show the impact 30 years in the natural environment has, which when we look at the intact structure of the can, is not a lot. A stark reminder of the importance of recycling to ensure items like cans are being repurposed and not sat idle on our planet!

Thank you to the Benefact Group for teaming up with us again – we had a great time and a very successful litter pick! However, an even bigger thank you to the fantastic volunteers who were extremely dedicated to the cause, getting stuck into bushes and carrying heavy items back to base! We are already looking forward to next year!
