Recently, 9th Cheltenham Guides rolled up their sleeves and made a difference right here in our local community with a litterpick along the Honeybourne Cycle Link.

Armed with gloves, litter grabbers, and plenty of enthusiasm, the Guides spent the evening collecting rubbish from the cycle trail. In just an hour, they filled 5 bags full of litter totalling 7.85 kilograms – helping to make the area cleaner, safer, and more enjoyable for everyone.

The girls were surprised by how much single-use plastic, bottles, and snack wrappers they found, but they turned that surprise into motivation. It sparked some great discussions about how we can all reduce waste, recycle more, and take pride in looking after our shared spaces. We loved to see the Guides had their very own bingo cards, encouraging them to collect as much rubbish as possible in the bid to complete the items on their bingo cards!

The unit leaders were really proud of the Guides for getting stuck in and showing real community spirit. It was great to see them taking action for the planet and encouraging others to do the same.

The litter pick also counts towards the Guides’ Take Action badge and supports Girlguiding’s ongoing commitment to caring for the environment.

A massive thank you to 9th Cheltenham Guides for all of their hard work and determination – you made a huge impact in such a short space of time!
