Life’s a Beach has once again joined forces with Forest Green Rovers Community and their partner Grundon to host another uplifting beach clean at Weston‑super‑Mare.

We kicked things off with an important safety briefing and a quick chat about why beach cleans matter, not just for keeping our coastlines beautiful, but also for protecting wildlife and the seas we love. Soon after, the group split into teams and set off across the sands, ready to tackle litter both big and small.

Volunteers fanned out over the beach to gather everything from cigarette butts to plastic wrappers. Together, we cleaned for a solid two hours and it paid off: 28 bags full of rubbish, weighing 39.19 kg, were removed from the environment.

As always, beach cleans bring surprises. Among the usual debris, we came across some extraordinary items and of course, plenty of the lightweight plastics that are easily carried off by wind and pose a hidden threat to wildlife. Here are some of the more interesting things we found together:
- A walkie talkie
- Clothes
- A piece of chipboard
- Multiple wet wipes

The energy from everyone, especially the young volunteers from FGR Community, was incredible. Their passion and positivity echoed our mission: to build awareness, inspire sustainable habits, and make a real difference.
One young person showed particular interest in the small pieces of litter, which consisted of nurdles, sea glass, microplastics, bottle caps and even a couple of screws.

A huge thanks to Forest Green Rovers Community, Grundon, and all our volunteers! Your efforts showed what can be accomplished when we work together.
