We headed to Chalkwell Beach for a litter pick with the lovely team from Innocent Drinks. Despite it being autumn, we were treated to a surprisingly warm day, making it the perfect weather for getting out on the beach!
There was plenty of litter to be found along the shoreline, with lots of freshly washed-up rubbish scattered across the sand. We also found a surprising amount of fishing line, which had been washed up along the beach. Fishing line can be particularly harmful to wildlife if it’s left behind, so it was great to be able to remove so much of it from the shoreline.
The team from Innocent were so friendly and enthusiastic throughout the clean, and it was genuinely lovely to see everyone getting stuck in. They worked their way along the beach, picking up everything they could find and making sure even the smaller pieces of litter didn’t get missed.
After three hours of cleaning, the team had collected an impressive 18.98kg of litter from Chalkwell Beach. Every piece removed is one less piece of rubbish sitting on the shoreline or potentially making its way back into the water. A huge thank you to everyone at Innocent Drinks for joining us, bringing such great energy and helping us give Chalkwell Beach a good clean. We loved spending the day with you!
