Pittville Park with the Optimising IT Team

A fantastic team of volunteers came together recently to help clean up Pittville Park in Cheltenham, collecting an impressive 56.9kg of litter from the green space.

The litter-picking event brought together volunteers from Optimising IT, students and staff from National Star College, Ben Marks from Webmart (B Corp) and members of the local community! Working side by side, the group helped remove a wide range of litter and dumped items, making the park cleaner and more enjoyable for visitors and wildlife alike.

Among the more unusual finds were a discarded bollard, a shopping trolley, a camping chair and a football boot, alongside the usual collection of drinks cans, bottles, food packaging and other litter. These items contributed significantly to the total weight collected and highlighted the importance of regular community clean-up events.

This clean up demonstrated the power of community action, with volunteers of all ages contributing their time and energy to improve the local environment. Their efforts not only removed almost 57kg of waste but also helped raise awareness of the importance of keeping public spaces free from litter.

A huge thank you goes to everyone who took part, including the teams from Optimising IT and Star College, as well as the members of the public who joined us. Together, they made a real difference to one of Cheltenham’s most valued parks, and we look forward to welcoming them back for future clean-up events.
