10 volunteers from Uplands Retail Ltd. gave up two and a half hours of their time to tackle Weston-Super-Mare beach. Bad weather and high tides meant that lots of litter had washed up onto the beach, and the team wasted no time getting stuck in.
The weather was cold and chilly, but that didn’t stop the volunteers from finding all sorts of unusual items. We found things like a plug, a fishing net, soy sauce containers, and various goggles and glasses.
The most interesting thing we found was an oil drum, unsure of how to get it back to the meeting point, one of the volunteers cleverly fashioned a way to pull it along using a bungee cord.
After two and a half hours the volunteers had collected up 61.5 kilos of waste from the sand. A great achievement! We want to say a huge thank you Uplands Retail Ltd. for volunteering their time and helping us to keep our beaches litter free!
