We had the absolute pleasure of heading to the beautiful Kennet and Avon Canal in Bradford on Avon with an amazing group of volunteers from Danone; and what a day it turned out to be! With 18 people in high spirits and ready to make a difference, we set off along the towpath and surrounding green spaces for a canal-side clean-up with purpose.

From the very start, the energy was brilliant. The Danone team came prepared and full of enthusiasm, chatting as they worked and really throwing themselves into the clean. Over the course of the afternoon, we managed to collect an impressive 28.44kg of litter, not bad for a few hours’ work in the sunshine!
The canal is a much-loved spot for walkers, boaters and wildlife alike, so it felt especially good to be giving back to such a peaceful and well-used area. The beauty of the area was a powerful reminder of exactly what we’re trying to protect.

Of course, no Life’s a Beach clean would be complete without a few weird and wonderful discoveries. Among our top finds of the day were a flag, a copper pipe walking stick, a diary page from 2018, a handsaw, and oddly enough two separate parts of a bike, with the seat and handlebars turning up metres apart. Who knows what stories they have to tell!

The atmosphere stayed upbeat all afternoon, with great conversations, teamwork and lots of laughs along the way. It’s always so encouraging to see people stepping away from their desks and giving their time to protect the environment, especially when they do it with such care and positivity.
A huge thank you to everyone at Danone who took part in the clean-up. Your efforts made a genuine difference, not just to the local area but to our wider mission of keeping the UK’s waterways and coastlines litter-free. We couldn’t do it without brilliant volunteers like you.
