All Saints Netheravon Primary Take on Plastic Pollution!

We recently had the pleasure of spending the day with the wonderful pupils and staff at All Saints Netheravon Primary School, and what a day it was! From the moment we arrived, the energy was high, and the enthusiasm for protecting our planet was infectious.

We kicked things off with a full-school assembly where we talked all things plastic pollution: what it is, how it impacts our beaches and oceans, and most importantly, what we can all do to help. The children were brilliantly engaged, asking thoughtful questions and sharing what they already knew about the issue. It’s always inspiring to see young minds so switched on to the challenges facing our environment.

After the assembly, we ran our decomposition timeline workshop with each class. This is one of our favourite activities, where students guess how long common household items take to break down. There were gasps all round when they learned that plastic bottles can stick around for hundreds of years! The hands-on format really got everyone talking, and thinking, about the choices we make every day.

With eco-energy running high, we grabbed litter pickers and headed outside. Every class took part in a litter pick around the school grounds and surrounding areas. It was fantastic to see the teamwork and determination in action, some groups even ventured into the hedgerows and behind fences to make sure no scrap of rubbish got left behind. Bags filled up quickly, and by the end of the day, the school grounds were looking cleaner and greener than ever. All together we managed to collect up 5.68kg of litter!

As always, we finished with a big thank you and reflection on the day. The pupils of All Saints Netheravon were a joy to work with curious, proactive, and genuinely passionate about making a difference. It’s days like these that remind us why we do what we do.

If your school would like to host a Life’s a Beach day, complete with assemblies, workshops, and litter picks, we’d love to hear from you. Just drop us an email at hello@lifesabeach.org and let’s make it happen!
